Real Estate Photography

Posted on: April 16th, 2015 by admin | No Comments

We were hired by Real Estate Agent Corey Huish to provide him with some eye catching shots of a property he is listing. The house is beautiful and has such rich history.

While we were shooting, the owner told us some of the many interesting facts about this house. She mentioned how the previous owner was a bit of a collector and would purchase decorations for the house from the casinos at the strip (MGM, Caesars Palace, etc). He bought statues, the fountain, flowerpots, etc. She said he even got shutters and book cases that were from the Hilton in the Elvis suite when Bill Cosby headlined there, how cool is that?

The plan was to make this home feel like a resort, I’d say job well done!

If you’re interested in the house, you can contact Corey Huish at 702-610-0557 or via email c_huish@hotmail.com

Sean Watson Photoshoot

Posted on: March 1st, 2015 by admin | No Comments

Sean Watson, Master of Illusion, hired us once again to do a photoshoot for promotional purposes (some of his previous images are in our facebook page). He’s looking to update his website (www.seanwatsonmagician.com) and also do promotional prints such as posters, banners, postcards, business cards, etc (all of which we are able to do through our sister company, www.weprintvegas.com).

I had set up the studio the night before, created a light set up based on what Sean and I had discussed over the phone. This lighting set up had to be tweaked quite a bit once he came in, as he’s about 4-5 inches taller than me and this required re-positioning some lights as well as the camera to fit him in the frame. We started taking some shots and tweaking a bit more until we finally got the look we wanted. This also gave Sean time to loosen up and become more comfortable with all the flashes, but it wasn’t until we started taking his photo with his fiance/assistant that he finally was 100% comfortable.

The two looked great together and we got some very interesting and fun shots. After a few hours of trying different poses and outfits, as well as a lot more light tweaking, we finally got everything we needed in the studio and it was time to drive to our location for the extra shots we had planned.

Since Sean Watson is a magician, we thought it’d be cool to make a composite shot, of him levitating Darby (his fiance). We got to the location and set up the lights, using our Paul C Buff battery pack (this thing is awesome, it even powered our continuous light which we used to shoot a bit of video). Once everything was ready, we took a shot of the background without Sean or Darby in it; then a few different poses for Sean; and finally, the hard part. We started trying to figure out how to best pose Darby, in a way that would look cool, but also a pose she could hold without falling off the ladder we used to hold her. This proved a bit tough at first, but after a few tries and some help from Sean holding her, we were able to get the pose.

We had a lot of fun with these two, check out the finished product below and let us know what you think!

Inspiring young photographers

Inspiring young photographers
I took my little sister out on a Sunday to Red Rock Canyon. She wanted to learn a bit about photography. So on the way there, I talked to her about what photography is and the 3 elements of exposure: Shutter speed, aperture and ISO.
When we got there (had to make 2 U-turns as I passed the exit twice) we went down the trail with the plan of getting to a big rock that I believed would give us a great view of the red rocks one way, and of the sunset the other. When we made it near the rock, we realized it was impossible to get up there, so we had to change our plans. It was getting dark quickly and I wanted to teach her a bit about flash photography as well, so we had to hurry.
I taught her about the rule of thirds and she took her first few landscape shots (not bad for her first time). Then, as it got darker, we fired up the flash, I showed her how to use it and had her take a few shots of me, I think they came out pretty good.
It’s awesome to see I’m inspiring her with my work and making her want to learn a bit about what I do. She’s even joining us again soon for a photoshoot we’re doing, she will be learning a bit about lighting and studio photography.
Quote of the day:
Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.

Eric and Sieu Hua’s Wedding

Eric and Sieu Hua’s Wedding
I just finished editing Eric and Sieu Hua’s wedding video and it reminded me of the fun we all had that day. We met Eric at his home in the morning while he was getting ready and then followed him to the Rio, where he was picking up his bride-to-be Sieu.
They looked so happy together, and the encounter was beautiful, not before some fun moments enjoyed with the bridesmaids and groomsmen tho. As Eric knocked on the door, he wasn’t greeted by Sieu, her maid of honor instead cracked the door open, and wouldn’t let Eric in. They had some fun with him for a few minutes, making him pass some tests before he could meet his future wife. Like guessing which lipstick kiss on a piece of paper belonged to Sieu, doing 99 push-ups (he didn’t do them, didn’t want his tuxedo to get ruined) and taking some shots (he wasn’t so faced by this challenge though).
But when he finally got to see his beautiful bride, it was all worth it. We then drove back to his house for the ceremony, and later on the day, back to the Rio for the reception, which was held at KJ Dim Sum & Seafood restaurant. They had a lot of fun, to me it looked like an audition for American Idol, as they had karaoke and a lot of the guests performed songs for the couple, so talented!
Check out some of the photos from their wedding, and leave us a comment!

Konova K2 Slider

Konova K2 Slider

Konova K2 Slider

So we recently purchased the Konova K2 slider. We first used it during a model photoshoot we did for our sister company “We Print Vegas” as promotion for our vehicle wrap business. This Konova K2 slider is awesome! We were able to get some really cool shots, adding production value to our videos. It was very easy to set up and use. I did read that when using only one tripod with it, it could potentially bend when the camera reached either end, so to ensure this wouldn’t happen, I used two tripods. With a little more practice and a better tripod head (currently using an old manfrotto ball head which is pretty stiff) we should be able to make some awesome looking videos. Check out the images and stay tuned for the finished video of our photoshoot, coming soon!

Quote of the day:

“Photography is the simplest thing in the world, but it is incredibly complicated to make it really work.”

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
